Conveyor Idlers Strongco Engineered Systems’ experience in designing complete bulk material handling systems provides our design and manufacturing teams with a greater understanding of the specific needs for belt conveyor components. Our permanently sealed idlers are designed for outstanding performance. Their superior seal design and precision-machined components result in long, trouble-free roll life and low maintenance costs. The unique bracket and roll features of the 10000 Series and 30000 Series idlers eliminate belt pinching and reduce belt wear. While the advanced manufacturing methods and extensive quality assurance procedures ensure that each Strongco idler is economical and dependable. Seal Systems Idler failure is most commonly caused by contaminants entering the bearing, causing seizure of the rolling elements. To prevent this, Strongco Engineered Systems utilizes two sealing systems, incorporating multiple elements to provide an effective barrier against contaminants. System (1) is a cartridge unit consisting of a double lip BUNA ‘N’ contact seal, which excludes contaminants from the bearing area. A steel deflector shield restricts moisture and dust from entering the cartridge seal and the rear seal system retains grease and seals in the bearing cavity. The seal is used in our 30000 and 50000 series rolls. System (2) is a triple lip grease filled polyurethane shaft contact seal designed to exclude contaminates from the bearing cavity. The seal is used in our 40000 Series rolls. Idler Bearings The Strongco Engineered Systems idler uses a ball bearing that is designed specifically for belt conveyor idlers. The design of these bearings provides exceptional tolerance to contamination, higher basic load ratings and high permissible misalignment due to load. The adjustment, so critical to the proper operation of a tapered roller bearing, is not required. Ball bearings, because of a greater tendency to retain their lubricant, do not require elaborate lubrication systems. Lubrication-type systems provide a path to contaminants, require frequent maintenance and permit damage to seals due to over lubrication. The Strongco Engineered Systems idler meets or exceeds the applicable Cema classification. Learn more about Strongco Engineered Systems conveyor idlers. |
